Processing

Sustainability is at the heart of our operations as we are involved in the processing of natural resources.

Through our ‘Green Fishery Production Scheme’, we have converted into using renewable biomass fuel instead of fossil fuel in our steam drying production process, thereby producing premium grade fishmeal suitable for the animal and aquaculture industry that is leaner on the environment.

On a yearly average, QL Endau consumes 18,000 metric tonnes of biomass fuel which produces lower carbon emissions compared to fossil fuels.

Solar
Power

Further reducing our environmental impact arising from our production, we have invested into solar panels to mitigate carbon footprint. The solar panels have a 1.79 MW peak capacity and allow us to tap into renewable energy sources to power our operations. Our photovoltaic panels save up to 1,347 metric tonnes of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) per annum, which is equivalent to planting over 24,600 trees.

Wastewater
Treatment

QL Endau has a wastewater treatment plant that further reduces impact on the environment. On average 150,000,000 litres of water is treated in a year before being safely discharged. The treated water is also used to feed our operations to reduce reliance on fresh water consumption that is taxing on the environment and resources.

Understanding our role in the socio-economics of society, QL Endau takes great care and pride in providing sustainable employment opportunities for the community in which we operate. Local members of community are employed in a wide range of roles from operational level to management level, and have clear growth paths afforded to them based on merit. In total we provide 450 jobs for the community.
